Ruffner Mountain Nature Preserve
The Ruffner Mountain Nature Preserve in Birmingham is a 1,000-acre preserve with trails, picnic areas, and gardens. Bird watchers and nature lovers will love this park!
This preserve is in Pinson, just outside Trussville. Hike trails alongside the creek, and dip your toes into the whitewater! Turkey Creek Nature Preserve is the perfect place to cool off on hot summer days.
The Birmingham Botanical Gardens offers free admissions for anyone that wants to enjoy their gardens. Visit the 67 acres of nature, stop by the conservatory, and don’t forget to check out the gift shop on your way out.
For rainy days, or for when the sun is a little too sweltering, indoor activities are much more enjoyable.

Fans of motorcycles and automobiles will love spending a day at Barber Motorsports Museum in Birmingham. Tour the museum and see vehicles from across the decades, and stop into the restoration shop to see work in progress.
The McWane Science Center in Birmingham is the perfect place to see, touch, and experience science. The whole family will have fun exploring the aquarium, playing in the Bubble Room, and seeing dinosaurs!
